Environmental Stewardship
A holistic balance between land, animals and people.
Our farming
practices enhance the environment by conserving grasslands, riparian
areas and encouraging biodiversity.
Grasslands improve air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and
storing the carbon in the soil. Without tillage, the soil holds this
carbon and is enriched with organic matter. This also reduces the
amount of fossil fuels used.
We restrict livestock access to riparian zones, enhancing water
quality and aquatic habitat.
The abscence of pesticides and herbicides in our farm ecosystem encourages biodiversity of soil microorganisms, plants and animals. Our completion of the Environmental Farm Plan is one of the many steps we take to preserve the environment we are so lucky to be farming in.

Together with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Whitevalley Community Resource Center, a project to stabilize the coho population has lead to the building ofa Smolt Imprinting Pond and Weir. The pond has helped imprint thousands of coho to our waters in the hopes that they will return here to spawn, as well as provide habitat for wild fish.
